A Letter To All Collegiate Interests
It is with deep regret and personal sadness that I must inform all collegiate staff that SICOA will not be servicing any collegiate programs in 2010.
This decision was not ours. Our schools decided to use the Gulf Atlantic Collegiate Officials Association, based in Jacksonville Florida.. Basically the developments and circumstances involving another group’s intentions to service our schools was too much aggravation and hassle for the schools to continue any type of business relationship in 2010.
This entire month long debacle is truly unfortunate. However, SICOA has never had any issue with any school or the collegiate officiating staff. Those that worked to alienate our collegiate program will be held accountable. I can assure you of that.
We have serviced NAIA schools for seven years. No one believed that it would end up this way. No one felt our future in collegiate athletics was ever in jeopardy until recently. I wish to thank all of you that gave your years of experience, time and dedication to us. For those of you that are fortunate to work with the GACOA, I wish you the best of luck in your future collegiate careers. To those that do not, consider why and what got us to this point of a program that was successful and then crumbled in a few short months.
We will retain all of our memberships and affiliations for 2010. Regrouping and reorganizing does not seem to be an option at this time. But the board of directors will explore all options for the future which serves the best interest of all concerned.
Any official that would like to speak further on this matter, please feel free to contact me.
